FAQ
How much are tickets?
Tickets are a suggested donation of $40, and this price includes your dinner.
What should I wear?
Casual party attire is the dress code, and the theme is palm springs (e.g., bright colors, fun prints, and retro vibes) if you choose to be inspired. But please wear what you're most comfortable in – your presence is what matters most!
Who can attend?
The auction is for adults only. Wedgwood Elementary parents, caregivers, teachers, and staff are welcome.
What happens at an auction?
The auction will include dinner, games, a silent and live auction, and a "text to donate" fundraiser. You are welcome to participate or bid on any items in the auction that interest you.
What's a silent auction?
Donated items are displayed on tables as you enter the auction with bid sheets that list the item's approximate value, the minimum starting bid, and the bidding increments.
If you want to bid on an item, print your bid number and the amount you'd like to bid on the bidding sheet. The next bidder will do the same, and so on, until the silent auction closes. When the silent auction closes (don't worry, the auctioneer will give you a warning), the highest bid wins the item.
The silent auction will have various priced items to bid on, including gift cards, kids' camps, wine tastings, classroom art, and gift baskets, many donated by members of our local community, including Wedgwood parents.
How does a live auction work?
An auctioneer runs the live auction. They introduce each item and name a starting bid. If you are interested in the item at that price, you raise your bid number. Then, the auctioneer calls a higher bid, and if you're still interested, you raise your bid number again. This continues until the highest bidder wins!
What is a sign up party?
There are two different types of sign-up parties at the auction – parent sign-up parties and teacher sign-up parties.
The parent sign-up parties are hosted by Wedgwood parents. They decide on an activity (e.g., a trivia night or wine and cheese night), date, and donation amount, and other parents donate to sign up for them at the auction.
The teacher sign-up parties are hosted by teachers at Wedgwood. They decide on an after-school activity (e.g., an outing to Third Place Books or an afternoon of crafting at the school), and parents can donate to sign their child up for the activity.
These will both be part of the silent auction.
Will I know what items will be included in the auction beforehand?
Yes. Students will be sent home with an auction catalog a week before the event, listing everything included in the silent and live auction. Plus all games and raffles.
Do I have to bid on anything at the auction?
Nope, you do not have to participate in the auction portion of the evening. However, auction items will be available at various price levels, and we will also have a wine grab and games (all optional). All proceeds go directly to the Wedgwood PTA and help us hit our fundraising goal.
How do I get the items that I win?
If you win a tangible item, you will pick it up at the end of the auction. If you signed up for a party, you'll receive details the week following the auction.
Will alcohol be served?
There will be alcohol available for purchase. We plan to have wine, beer, and cocktails. A non-alcoholic option will be available, too.
Are scholarships available to attend?
Yes, please contact School Nurse Jessica Prince (jlprince@seattleschools.org) to request a scholarship.
